Go Further Together!
If you want to go fast, travel alone; if you want to go
far, travel with others.
There are several organisations that we think of as partners
in encouraging mission information workers to work together. We dont
want to duplicate what they do and we highly recommend that you get involved
if they are relevant to you.
CRIAN (Christian Research in Action Network) http://transformingresearch.ning.com/
You will find a wide range of social-media-type interaction between researchers.
The culture is towards the academic, and the desire is to link to action.
You have to go through a sign-up process, but there is no fee. Dont
be intimidated by the questions you are asked on sign-up. If you havent
written any books, just say so! There are also lots of good resources
videos, recordings and papers. It is run by the Oxford Centre for
ICCM (International Conference on Computing and Mission) http://www.iccm.org/
This is a must for those with an interest in technology and exploiting
the latest technology for mission. There are now regular ICCM conferences
in Europe and Australia as well as in the USA. There are also email groups
that you can join in to keep in touch between conferences. Get you technical
Lausanne International Researchers Network
If you want to meet and interact with other researchers then the Lausanne Researchers
Conference is the place for you. Here you will meet academic lecturers and professors,
freelance researchers offering their services to churches and denominations, and
researchers embedded in large international mission organisations. It is especially
useful if you want to benefit from the fertile interaction between these different
realms. It convenes every three years which suits the pace of much academic research.
The 7th International Lausanne Researchers' Conference "Global challenges - local
responses" takes place from Sunday 24th May to Thursday 28th May 2015 in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia. You can find many more details including how to register in
our October 2014 bulletin.
WEA Mission Commission (our parent organisation) http://www.worldevangelicals.org/commissions/list/?com=mc
Mission Commission events tend to be by invitation only. If you are interested
in linking in, contact us.
There are many
who have gone before us with mission links and mission research links.
We will just give you these two (which themselves point to many other
pages of links). If we think of other links they should include, we will
tell them. There are mechanisms to do so on their pages. We suggest you
do the same.

Research Links" above has good links to mission information, for
instance follow the link above and click Mission Research Websites.
But we think there are other organisations and websites specific to our
discipline that we may want to feature here in future. Some of them will
be about information, and not directly about mission. For instance, Gapminder
is ground breaking in the way it presents global data. And it also makes
global public data readily accessible. See http://www.gapminder.org/
Analysis of the
need for church planting around the world is available on the Global Church
Planting Network website. See http://www.gcpn.info/home/research
